Asso.subsea successfully completes the Adriatic Interconnections Project II in Croatia.

Asso.subsea is excited to announce the successful conclusion of a significant project in Croatia, highlighting a key partnership with Končar, representing HOPS. This endeavor involved the careful transport and installation of cables, covering a distance of about 30 kilometers and descending to depths of 70 meters underwater.

The project featured the installation of four separate 110 kV cable systems. The northern portion connected landing sites at Mali Bok – Merag and Osor bay across the islands of Krk, Cres, and Losinj, while the southern segment linked Prapatna – Medvidbad and Travna – Slatina, spanning the islands of Brač, Hvar, and Korcula. The task also included replacing old cables along these routes with 3x 630 mm2 submarine cables, totaling approximately 30,500 meters.

Significantly, onshore pull-in activities required thorough preparation before executing the pull-in operations at all sites. This, along with the pull-in operation itself, presented notable challenges, including the use of HDD pipes measuring around 120 meters and 60 meters in length for two operations, respectively. Additionally, navigating steep slopes and turns at various sites demanded innovative solutions, prompting Asso.subsea to devise and produce specialized rollers. Notably, gradients of up to 40% were encountered at locations such as Prapatna and Slatina.
