Description |
Includes relocation allowance + benefits
• Reports to the Mechanical Engineering Section Head.
• Responsible for ensuring that engineering status and strategy is prepared & implemented for the boiler and boiler auxiliary plant area.
• Responsible for financial management / control of selected Mechanical Engineering budgets.
• Responsible for ensuring that Engineering outage shutdown and project work is carried out in a timely, cost effective manner and managed to required safety, operational and environmental standards.
• Responsible for carrying out scheme appraisals and assessments on prospective projects.
• Provides guidance for developing mechanical engineering best practices across all functions using outside resources to supplement internal expertise
• Responsible for supporting Maintenance in developing and executing minor projects
• Responsible for developing plans to address or mitigate all major mechanical equipment risks
• Responsible for supporting Maintenance Section Heads in developing improvement programmes across the mechanical equipment types
• Responsible for preparing major contract specifications
o A member of the Engineering team, which provides leadership and promotes teamwork across all functions in the production area.
• Required to interface with Operation and Maintenance teams
• Required to work with maintenance and prepare project work scopes
• Required to work with the Outage & Maintenance Section head to improve outage efficiency.
• Required to assist with the technical review of Drax plant.
• Required to ensure correct engineering standards are applied.
• Required to implement project management best practice.
• Required to have a good knowledge and understanding of pressure systems regulation, high pressure pipework management systems and creep life management.
• Required to work closely with external bodies including suppliers, contractors, consultants, and insurance engineers.

SkillsRequired |
• An engineering or equivalent qualification to the level of HNC or higher.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Power station plant maintenance.
• Knowledge and experience of large coal fired Boilers, Boiler combustion and auxiliary plant, including milling plant.
• Highly motivated with good communication skills.
• Strong analytical skills and the ability to apply sound business and commercial knowledge in the mechanical engineering area
• Must be able to quickly adapt to changing business needs and possess good business and commercial skills and provide solutions to problems logically and quickly.
