To act as a member of the Materials Handling Management Team controlling, directing and supervising the operation and maintenance of the Mats Handling department.
Act as a safety controller - Responsible for the provision of safety documents for the company's people and contractors, including authorisation of electrical interconnected systems. Ensures DPL safety rules are upheld and applied.
Mentors, audits and authorises Designated Persons/Acceptors.
Co ordinate and facilitate plant release across Materials Handling.
Carries out duties of Incident Controller.
Undertakes routine testing, investigation and identification of plant defects and abnormalities.
Provides technical direction, ensuring plant is run in line with agreed parameters and engineering guidelines.
Be responsible and accountable for plant, equipment and systems and be able to diagnose / solve problems safely, logically, quickly and confidently.
To ensure effective handover is achieved at shift change, ensuring passage of information is adequate and up to date.
Assist in training on Safety from the System within Materials Handling
Ensure standards of safety and housekeeping are maintained.
Assist the Mats Handling Process Supervisor in all aspects of shift team supervision.
Detailed level of understanding of Station emergency plan and procedures. Ensure compliance with environmental and other external/internal limits.

PERSON DIMENSIONS:
Have a extensive knowledge of all relevant plant and systems, and other plant and systems which directly interacts with the company.
Motivated and posses the drive to uphold and improve standards.
Possess or be working towards a qualification at HNC level.
Have excellent communication skills and be highly computer literate.
To act under their own initiative within their competence to carry out duties assigned to them showing due regard to Safety, quality and Station standing instructions.
Capable in assisting the Materials Handling Process Supervisor with the supervision of the staff under the company’s control at any given time.

£35,000 to £43,000 plus shift allowance |
