• Reports to Boiler Maintenance Section Head.
• Responsible for contribution to the development of strategies to maintain and improve the reliability and maintainability of plant.
• Responsible for provision of technical support and supervision of contractors carrying out breakdown repairs during and outside normal working hours.
• Responsible for provision of technical and supervisory support to projects carried out during major plant overhauls by DPL and contractors staff.
• Responsible for the review and maintenance of the PRAD risk assessments for work in the boiler plant area.
• Responsible for leading or contributing to projects associated with the reliability and improvement of plant area equipment.
• Responsible for provision of technical support to the maintenance teams, when requested, to facilitate the completion of maintenance tasks.
• Responsible for providing input to the work planning process, diagnosing and engineering defects when technical input is required.
• Responsible for the completion of work and updating of databases associated with engineering changes, plant obsolescence, defect reduction and other causes.
• Responsible for control of spend on allocated budgets.
• Responsible for the specification of work, risk assessment, and supervision of contractors when acting as Contract User.
• Responsible for maintaining a level of proficiency in relevant regulations pertaining to his/her area of responsibility and ensuring they are met / adhered to.
• Required to provide cover outside normal working hours and respond to plant breakdown situations as required.
• Able to work in an environment of continuous improvement, looking to identify causes of poor reliability, prioritising and progressing the solutions.
• Required to maintain good working relationships with other maintenance and station teams and groups.
• Should be knowledgeable and competent in the use of relevant Site IT systems such as PRISM. MCM, Sharepooint and SAROS etc

SkillsRequired |
• A minimum of five years experience in a skilled maintenance or engineering capacity qualified to a minimum level of NVQ 3 or better
• Motivated with ability to communicate effectively.
• Must be able to demonstrate flexible approach to working hours during plant overhaul and breakdown situations.
• Used to working to high standards of safety, environmental and housekeeping performance.
• Able to provide solutions to problems quickly and logically. |
